The Canadian government has moved quickly to fill recent leadership vacancies within key agencies. On Friday February 10th, a new CFIA President was appointed: Dr. Harpreet S. Kochhar. Dr. Kochhar has a doctorate in animal biotechnology, was the Chief Veterinary Officer at the CFIA in the past, as well as a number of other roles at CFIA before his most recent terms at the Ministry of Health (HC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). You can read his bio here.

There were other key changes for the Deputy Ministers at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), as well as Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Chris Forbes, former AAFC Deputy Minister, has been transferred to be the new Deputy Minister at ECCC. You can read his bio here. Replacing Forbes as new Deputy Minister at AAFC is Stefanie Beck. You can read her bio here. Her experience most recently was at National Defense, but she held Global Affairs and IRCC posts before that.

GCCA looks forward to working with these agency leaders to advance the cold chain industry.
